Paul and me continue our discussion — which, true to form, ranges significantly off topic into (this week) a discussion of values, the dignity of the human person, the distinction between law and morality, and the ease with which regimes have inflicted suffering and murder upon segments of their populations over the years.

Granted, it’s not the brightest, happiest subject to usher in Christmas, but in a certain theological sense…it fits. Because what is Christmas, and why — again, speaking theologically — was it a necessary thing?

Listen to the Episode

The season of Advent — four weeks of preparation, reflection, and penance that precede Christmas — began on Sunday, November 27th. It will continue until Christmas proper, and the Christmas season continues thereafter until the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord (January 8th or 9th, which is the first Sunday that follows Epiphany (which, in turn, is observed on January 6th).

Merry Christmas to you and your family, from the Ultima Codex!
