Ultima IX Redemption: 18-Minute Landscapes Video

Corv promised that we would be seeing a lengthy video showcasing Ultima IX: Redemption a couple of weeks ago, and late last night he made good on that promise.

Over the last few days I made an 18 minute video of various areas of Britannia. Please try to watch it with the sound on, at 1080p and enjoy the music and the scenery from beginning to the end. Don’t skip through, you might miss something 😉

Since all this was done with the Morrwind engine it is, of course, not as technically impressive as Skyrim, but I still hope you enjoy the art direction, the overall mood I was going for. Every tree, rock, bush, flower, … was hand placed. There was no automatic landscape generation involved. We brought the engine to its limits and I hope you can see it.

Some scenes could be considered (minor) spoilers, but I doubt this will keep you from watching.

Despite the use of the older engine, the video is an impressive visual walkthrough of many different areas of Britannia (as re-created by the Titans of Ether). Really, really impressive, actually…I don’t think Corv needs to fret about Skyrim’s technical edge. It’s also a musically impressive work; renditions of several classic Ultima tunes comprise the video’s soundtrack.

Feedback about the video can be left on the Titans of Ether forums.
