ArtCraft Entertainment announces use of VoxelFarm Technology in highly anticipated Massively Multiplayer Game, Crowfall

AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 17, 2015 — Independent game developer ArtCraft Entertainment, Inc. announced today the use of Voxel Farm technology platform in Crowfall, the highly-anticipated next-generation Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMORPG) with a focus on political alliances and feudal conquest.

“Our goal with Crowfall is to create an online experience where the World is a completely dynamic world,” explained Gordon Walton, co-founder and President of ArtCraft. “We want to create hundreds of unique worlds, with unique maps – mountains, hills, valleys, rivers, dungeons, ruins – for players to explore and destroy. The Voxel Farm technology gives us the power to do exactly that”.

Voxel technology has gained quite a bit of notoriety in recent years, in large part, thanks to the overwhelming success of Mojang’s Minecraft. By licensing the Voxel Farm technology, ArtCraft intends to take this technology in entirely new directions.

J. Todd Coleman, co-founder and creative director explains, “Most games are using voxel technology for creation – effectively, giving players a sandbox to build things. We’re using them for a very different reason; we are using Voxels for destruction. We’re creating sandcastles for the players to kick over.”

“We are thrilled to see our tech used in Crowfall,” said Miguel Cepero, CEO of of Voxel Farm. “The scope and detail of this project is mind blowing. It is a perfect example of what we believe next-gen games will be like.”

Founded by two of the most experienced executives in the history of online gaming, ArtCraft Entertainment is the combined effort of J. Todd Coleman (director, Shadowbane, Wizard101, Pirate101)and Gordon Walton (executive producer, Ultima Online, Star Wars Galaxies, Star Wars: the Old Republic). The stated goal of ArtCraft Entertainment is to “push the design of Massively Multiplayer Online games in bold new directions.“

In addition to announcing their use of Voxel Farm — they’ve published an FAQ page about voxel technology if you’re curious — ArtCraft also revealed another character class: the Elken Stalker. This seems to be a hybrid Ranger/Assassin class…and an anthropomorphic elk.
