Shards Online: Dusty Macd Interviews World Artist Austin Fain

Dusty Macd continues his series of interviews with Shards Online team members, this time speaking with world artist Austin Fain. According to his LinkedIn profile, he has been at Citadel Studios since the summer of 2013; before that, he worked as the lead designer for a game about gang awareness for The Office of the Attorney General of Virginia.

The interview addresses Fain’s history with Citadel Studios and how he landed a job there. There is also a bit of discussion around the world building process.

Dusty also notes that Fain does not yet have a nickname to go by. The task of assigning him one has been left up to the Shards fandom. If that includes you, noble Dragons and Dragonettes, then by all means leave a suggestion on the interview’s YouTube page.

I think I’ve finally figured out what’s missing in my personal formula for success. I either need glasses like Austin Fain, a 40 year-old rat tail, or a shaved head, soul patch and earring. Hmmm, maybe a game dev “ten commandments” of success through personal aesthetics is in order.
