There have been a couple of significant updates posted to the Crowfall forums over the last few days. Back on the 15th, in addition to the banner image above depicting the Knight character class battling a Champion, concept art and an in-game model for the Templar character class were revealed:

Once again, let me just say how much I enjoy seeing the in-game artwork here. The models aren’t quite cel shaded, but they do have a much more stylized appearance to them; hyper-realism is obviously not the goal.

Also posted on the 15th was this cryptic image, which the Crowfall team claim is “an illustration that provides clues for both a core game systems, and one of [the] key narrative threads”:

I couldn’t begin to guess what the names on the image represent. Are they deities? Factions? Titles the player can achieve? Places to visit?

Anyhow…on the 20th, in addition to the banner above depicting various flags (which I note bear the same symbols as on the cryptic image above) ArtCraft Entertainment also released an image of what they’re calling a Fealty Chart:

And in the description attending the image, they confirmed that Crowfall will feature, at minimum, player guilds and land ownership:

This isn’t a guild org chart — we support guilds (and guild structures) but we’ve laid a different system on top of that, which ties player fealty directly to land ownership. More on that system, and how it ties to siege conquest, will be coming soon.

And they released another character creation screenshot, featuring the Frostweaver character class:

In case you’re wondering what the column on the left is about, they address that as well:

In this one, you get a glimpse of the “Advantages” and “Disadvantages” system (which SB players will recognize as a direct descendent of the talents and traits system, only with more customization.)

I have to admit that I’m interested in Crowfall in spite of myself. It’s interesting that yet another team of former Ultima and Ultima Online developers have come out with a game concept that emphasizes features from…well…Ultima Online, mostly. Granted, it is another MMORPG concept, and then one that seems to place a lot of emphasis on open PvP, which…ugh. But damn, the art is nice.

well this is interesting… not enough games make use of the “Advantages” and “Disadvantages” system, Fallout used it but I think the last game I remember that truly embraced the concept was Freedom Force.
