Help Santiago Zapata Beta Test His D&D1 Contest Entry for Shroud of the Avatar

Santiago Zapata — Slashie, Slashing Dragon, or slashgravatar as he’s also known to Codex regulars — has put together a web-based entry for Richard Garriott’s D&D1 contest for Shroud of the Avatar. And he has asked the Ultima fandom to play-test it.

Slashing’s port presents the player with a somewhat animated image of a teletype machine, which both accepts input from the user and displays outputs to same, in a manner that ably emulates the scroll of dot matrix paper. He offers little in the way of instructions on the website proper:

This entry sticks as much as possible to the original; all typos and UI unfriendliness are kept for great justice

REMEMBER TO ENTER “SHAVS” AS YOUR NAME

…but he has included a handy reference card for the game.

Click on through and give it a try. Feedback can be left on this post on Facebook, or directed to Slashing on Twitter.

I must be doing something wrong… I can’t get past entering the players name (SHAVS). It won’t accept it. I am running Windows 8 with Firefox. The game doesn’t load in Windows 8 IE at all…

The link “http://slashland.co/dnd1/” appears to be broken. In any case, good work.
