Ultima IX Redemption: Trinsic and Swamp Screenshots

Corv and the Titans of Ether have wasted no time making good on their recent promise of screenshots; there’s a new post up at the new Titans of Ether site featuring a number of images of Trinsic and its surrounding swampland.

Trinsic, evidently, is in ruins.

Trinsic, evidently, is in ruins.

There’s actually a bit of a narrative that accompanies the post, telling the harrowing tale of the Avatar’s arrival in the ruined city of Honor. Do click on through to read it and get a glimpse of some of the more…spectral enemies the mod will throw at you.

After the story concludes, though, there’s a lovely set of swampland screenshots. Here are a few choice excerpts therefrom:

Notice the night-to-day transition.

About the images, Corv also had this to say:

I posted those screenshots to show a bit of the darker scenery of Redemption. As a matter of fact I currently overhaul those areas. We have better tree models, I will add more grass etc…but the overall feel will stay the same and that’s what I wanted to share with you.

Exciting news, really. I look forward to seeing some “before and after”-style comparisons once the Titans get the new assets in place.

The design and layout are good. In an Ultima game it’s more about what items are where, and how you interact with them. The stand-in assets can be swapped out without affecting the gameplay. I’m pretty excited about the project.

Learn just enough about Unity to implement what has already been implemented, then selectively learn more to spice things up and solve problems. The engine can do nearly anything, so don’t sweat the stuff extraneous to the main project goals. And good luck.
