U35 Pax Britannia: NPCs From Other Races

Andrew Owen posted a short update concerning U3.5: Pax Britannia in the Ultima Dragons Facebook group the other day, which was also in response to the Ultima 4 NPC submission sheet that was revealed earlier this week:

So it seems in 1984 the lineup of races and professions for U4 was a little different:

“The races and professions I currently plan to use for Ultima IV are: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Bobbit, Fuzzy, Fighter, Magician, Tinker, Paladin, Lark, Alchemist, Ranger, Serf.”—LB

So the races went out, the Magician became the Mage, the Lark became the Bard, the Serf became the Shepherd. Interesting to see the Alchemist was still in at that point, although ultimately removed in favour of the Druid. So for U3.5 although you can only play as human, there will be NPCs from the other races. And although you can’t play as Tinker or Serf, there will also be NPCs from those classes.

Well, someone ought to use those classes and races; they obviously didn’t make the cut for Ultima 4!

Pax Britannia is going to flat out kick ass. Really looking forward to it. I remember in Ultima Exodus for the NES they (I think) had four different character classes. Nice to see some being introduced again into a truly old-school Ultima.

Thanks for the kind words. I feel I should point out that it’s U3.5. U35 was a submarine. (http://www.u-35.com/synopsis.htm)

Someone misspelled Sanctimonia once and I facepalmed, so I know the feeling. Then again, if EA had given Ultima development responsibilities to their sports division, there very well may have been an Ultima XXXV. It would be just like Ultima X, but with updated stats and the latest physics engine.
