Shroud of the Avatar: Another Map Piece Revealed

map_11_names

The latest Update of the Avatar of course contained yet another puzzle piece of the map of Novia:

SotA_Map_Puzzle_Story17

And of course, this has in turn been added to the unlabeled and translated/labeled maps at the Ultima Codex’s Shroud of the Avatar subdomain.

This piece confirms the name of the Bay of Storms, and also introduces a river that could possibly bear the name of Fogladden. Albeit I am not entirely sure as to the last two letters of the word, obscured as they are by the curvature of the edge of the piece. So that will have to wait for another update, I think.

If it is Fogladden, it reminds me of the naming strategy of George R. R. Martin (assuming your translation is correct and that it was derived from the words “fog laden”). Robb (Rob), Jon (John), Eddard (Edward), Joffrey (Jeffrey), Lannister (Lancaster/Banister), Frey (Fray), etc. A great way to find palatable yet foreign-sounding names.
