Exult: Much-Needed Attention, Altar of Discipline Fixes…Final Version Soon?

Dominus stopped by the Ultima Dragons Facebook page to announce that Exult had received a sorely-needed update recently:

Exult saw some much needed attention last night – hopefully this means we are nearing a final version SOON!!!

When pressed for details, he explained just what that “attention” had entailed:

We (Marzo) needed to add hacks for the damn altar of discipline. Y-depressions, y-shaped crystals and the switching off the trap there.

We didn’t fix the plot problem of the original: it wrote to put the one crystal left of the altar the other to the right. Since you never know how the avatar stands before the altar, or what is actually the front, that part is messed up.

The tease of the possibility of a “final version” of Exult is a welcome one, and yet bittersweet as well. Exult has really been a pillar of the fan project community; to know that it is getting close to its end point is rather like contemplating the end of an era.

final version does not mean “end point” 🙂
it only means that there is a real release which helps a lot since the last version is now almost ten years old. And the rc1 (release candidate) four years. a lot of linux distributions still have the ten years old version as the last version as they only take final versions…

“Next stable release” perhaps. Exult is awesome, so it’s good to hear it’s seeing regular updates and releases.
