Irrational Games

As gorgeous and intriguing as the Burial at Sea DLC for BioShock Infinite looks, the execution of it seems to be somewhat lacking. Not that it’s bad, exactly…it just seems to disappoint given the high expectations that Infinite itself set. That, and the new items the DLC introduces evidently aren’t anything incredible.

That said, it does feature some gorgeous artwork, and pays homage to the first BioShock game.

Of course, BioShock Infinite itself has been nominated for the Game of the Year award at the just-around-the-corner VGX…er…thing. And Irrational Games is looking to hire a lead FX artist.

Also, Paul Izod — he of Ultima retrospective fame — got around to reviewing Infinte recently; it would seem that he loved it.

Path of Exile

The free-to-play action RPG has been scoring quite excellent reviews in recent weeks.

Might & Magic X

There have been a few updates posted to the Might & Magic X development blog, and the modding kit for the game has also been released for those who have access to it through Steam Early Access. (You can see a video tutorial of it here.)

Speaking of the Early Access version…a second patch was released for it just recently.

EverQuest Next

Gamespot has a preview of EverQuest Next Landmark, the sandboxy, world-building-focused precursor to EverQuest Next. There’s also a lengthy preview of it available via Twitch.tv, which is well worth a look. The developers also held a panel discussion about, among other topics, player-made structures, and the chap in charge of Sony Online Entertainment evidently can’t sait to see what the game looks like on the PlayStation 4.

38 Studios

The auction sale of 38 Studios’ intellectual property assets has in fact been moved back, and will now be held on December 11th.

Among the data up for grabs is, evidently, a completed, never-released Rise of Nations game, built exclusively for Apple’s OS X.

Overhaul Games

GameBanshee has some comparison screenshots showcasing the differences between the original Baldur’s Gate 2 and the recently-released Enhanced Edition thereof.

Much as was the case with the first Enhanced Edition game, the reviews of the second one are a bit mixed.

Ephemera

Eidos Montreal has released a patch for the Director’s Cut version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. They also announced, recently, that they have removed the quick-time events from the upcoming Thief game…and there was much rejoicing.

Oh, and ArcheAge evidently cleaned up big time at the Korea Game Awards.
