Might & Magic X

Limbic Entertainment posted an interview with Phelan Sykes on the Might & Magic X development blog. (Sykes was one of the developers on some of the earlier Might & Magic and Heroes games.)

The results of the patching poll were also released, and Limbic introduced us to the project’s Reference Team, which works to ensure lore consistency in Might & Magic X with respect to previous games set in the same world.

38 Studios

The defaulted loan to 38 Studios is now being investigated at the federal level. That’s right: the SEC has stepped in.

Additionally, the IP assets of the studio will be going up for auction soon, including both Project Copernicus and the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning sequel. I still retain some hope that a Reckoning sequel might one day be produced…and I still enjoy playing that game.

Thief

There was a preview of Thief published, based on what was shown of it at Gamescom.

BioShock Infinite

The Clash in the Clouds DLC for Infinite is now available for Mac. BioShock Infinite is also among the titles offered for sale this week to celebrate the launch of GameFly Digital.

Legend of Grimrock 2

Almost Human has made a few changes to the interface for the second Grimrock game.

Transistor

There’s an interview with project director Greg Kasavin at GameRanx, in which the narrative direction of Transistor gets examined.

Deathfire: Ruins of Nevermore

Guido Henkel has written a journal entry for Deathfire, offering a bit of in-lore storytelling. And giant rats.

EverQuest Next

There’s a new producer’s letter out concerning EverQuest Next (which continues to look awesome, by the way). There’s also a video interview from PAX that was published this week.

And IGN, of course, lists EverQuest Next amongst this collection of the biggest upcoming MMOs to watch for. (ArcheAge also merits a mention.)

I still think it makes the most sense for EA to buy 38 Studio’s IP. They already published the first title and they don’t have a fantasy MMO at the moment with Warhammer shutting down.

I suppose it depends how much work is left on Copernicus. I gather it wasn’t THAT far from release, but a new team would still need time to learn the tech and polish it up for release. Would its art and engine remain current long enough for that to be a viable move?
