Ultima Forever Developer Profile: Kate Flack

Mythic published a new Developer Profile video yesterday evening, this time featuring Ultima Forever lead designer Kate Flack:

In addition to identifying with the Virtues of Compassion and Spirituality and expressing a fondness for the female Mage class, she lets slip that the game — despite being targeted initially at mobile devices — features over 100,000 lines of text; it is likely one of the deepest RPGs specifically built for the platform (as opposed to titles, like Bastion or Knights of the Old Republic, which have been ported to mobile after enjoying success in the PC space).

Kate is also one of the principal architects of Ultima Forever’s approach to the Virtues (e.g. its implementation of Virtue Quandaries), and explains in the video her vision and hope that the interactions between players, and between players and NPCs, will give players the opportunity to explore their own personalities and consciences to some degree.

As well, the Ultima Forever Facebook page informs us that the “Ask the Devs” presentation that Mythic recently solicited questions for will be coming to us shortly.
