Shroud of the Avatar: Hangout of the Avatar, August 22, 2013

The most recent Shroud of the Avatar Hangout of the Avatar session on Google+, held last Thursday, featured Portalarium’s technical director Chris Spears discussing the magic system that is being worked on for the game:

In the thread on the official forums concerning the Hangout, the following image was released to supplement what Spears discussed on Google+:

Magical, isn't it?

Magical, isn’t it?

Magic in Shroud of the Avatar, in brief, draws upon eight sources, four of which are elemental in nature (earth, fire, air, and wind…the classics), and four of which are more arcane in nature (life, death, sun, and moon).

It should be stressed, as well, that the magic system for the game is still very early in its development, and so is subject to — and likely to — change. Feedback on it can be offered here.

Nice symmetry. Ultimas since IV have always been intrinsically mathematic. Instead of sun and moon I’d probably say light and dark. The elemental elements will be the most intriguing.
