GOG: Series Bundles Now Standard

GOG announced a couple of significant changes this week concerning how products are featured on their site. The most relevant part of the update, for Ultima fans and the Ultima-curious, is the revelation that the “series bundles” idea they piloted a while ago will now be offered as standard for all applicable titles in their catalogue:

Let’s start with the new sweet deals we’ve prepared for you. A while back we did a test run of game series bundles that allowed for purchase of full series of games at a reduced price. This will now be a permanent feature on GOG.com. We’ve prepared over 80 such offers, so those of you who like to see a complete set of your favorite games series in their virtual shelves, can achieve that goal up to 57.89% cheaper (that would be the case of Telltale’s Sam & Max series). If you already have a game, or some games, featured in the bundle, you can always complete the collection and get the remaining ones with a discount.

Naturally, I checked whether this was true for the Ultima games, and (of course!) it was:

Gamecard pages and DLC distribution will also see overhauls, according to the update. They’ll also have a contest pertaining to the former at some point in the near future. But really, for us Ultima fans, it’s the fact that the Ultima series will now be available on what is, in effect, a permanent discount (when purchased in its entirety) that’s most relevant.
