Shroud of the Avatar: Hangout of the Avatar, July 8, 2013

Portalarium held a special Hangout of the Avatar session on Google+ yesterday, showing off some of the same Shroud of the Avatar gameplay and environments that were featured in the RTX demo.

Toward the end of the (somewhat choppy) video, we also got a look at some of the editing tools being used to craft the game. The Unity editing environment obviously made an appearance:

As well, another tool being used my Scott “Lum the Mad” Jennings to craft conversations appeared in a few segments:

So if you’re one of the handful of people I’ve seen (on Twitter or elsewhere) asking if there’s any possibility of getting your hands on the Shroud of the Avatar editor…well…yes, yes there is. Getting your hands on the assets that Portalarium and the fan community have crafted, however, is something else entirely.

When someone commented on an editor earlier I was thinking it was probably the Unity IDE as I didn’t think the Portalarium team had really had time to create a robust editor from scratch. Hate it when I think of something, don’t say anything about it and am later shown to be right but can’t capitalize without sounding like an asshole. Now I sound like an asshole. Damn!

After watching the first demo, does anyone know about whether or not instancing will be used? Seem like if they’re spending so much time on one-off quests that instancing will be guaranteed. I hate the idea of doing something only to have it undone automatically to ensure everyone else can do it too who wasn’t with me at the time.
