Descendants of Erdrick: Ultima 5 Theme & Stones (With Lyrics)
At the recent Classic Game Fest in Austin, Texas, Descendants of Erdrick (a video game music cover band) performed a rocked-up rendition (or perhaps “mashup” is the better term) of two different songs from Ultima 5: Stones, and the main theme:
The sound quality on the recording isn’t great, so it’s almost impossible to make the lyrics out, but you can hear the band having fun with some classic Ultima music well enough.
Love how no one in the audience knew what Ultima was, much less its music. Guess “nerd cards” are sold on eBay these days for a dollar. Good job, tools.
Reminds me of when I bought a couple of tickets for a Nobuo Uematsu concert being performed by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra many years ago. I sent an email out to my coworkers offering the second ticket for free and everyone just laughed at me (literally). The ASO took the extra ticket back at admissions, saying they’d donate the proceeds to charity and I watched the performance alone.
Not sure if there’s a lesson there, but despite enjoying the performance it was pretty disheartening.
