Bethesda Thursdays

GameZone has a short review of Dishonored, which lists some positive and negative aspects of the game.

Bethesda are also quite happy this week that several of the games they have developed and/or published made PC Gamer’s list of the Top 100 Greatest PC Games of All Time. Dishonored came in at #40, Oblivion at #73, Morrowind at #93…and Skyrim captured the #1 spot. Which I find questionable, but…I suppose you’d expect me to say that by now, wouldn’t you?

Zero1Gaming took a retrospective look at Oblivion recently, by the way. And these guys made a Skyrim fan film.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun! also took a look at the recently-released Falskarr mod for Skyrim, and come away praising it, for the most part. It sounds like a truly epic level of effort and detail went into the mod; here’s hoping its principal creator lands his dream gig with Bethesda!

The big focus in the gaming press this week, however, was The Elder Scrolls Online. We got to see new video footage, got a look at all the playable races, and even saw some apparently leaked gameplay footage. The developers answered still yet more questions about the game, and we got to learn a bit about how Zenimax Online is using something called “layering” to drive story progression.

There was even more news than that, but as it has been rounded up by others already, why not just click through?

In OpenMW news, meanwhile, it was another week of progress, in which Zini (from the Titans of Ether) made further improvements to said engine’s editor.
