Shroud of the Avatar: New Forums!

As has been noted on the Shroud of the Avatar Facebook page, the old Shroud of the Avatar forums (which are bbPress-based) are being retired, in favour of a shiny new set of forums based on the XenForo framework.

Just to let everyone know, we will be moving over to the new forums (https://shroudoftheavatar.com/forum/)very soon. Before that happens, the old forums will need to be locked down so we can import the old threads over to the new forums. So don’t panic if you suddenly find you can’t create a new post or reply to an old one over here. Just head over to the new and improved forums, log in, and make yourself at home. 🙂

Once all the dust has settled, we’ll close these forums down for good and the above link will take you automatically to the new forums. Be sure to update any links or bookmarks you have to reflect the new address: https://shroudoftheavatar.com/forum/

See you on the other side!

So, I suppose it’s fair to suggest that some turbulence should be expected in the coming days, as users migrate (en masse, hopefully) to the new forums and topics from the old forums are migrated.

The forums have killed my interested in the game sadly.

Tons of players posting that they’re only interested if this is a full clone of UO, if they can rob players, if they can steal loot from other people’s kills, and full loot on PvP kills.

I have zero interest in a game whose mechanics are centered completely on griefing.

I spent $100 backing this because I wanted a game that was a spiritual successor to Ultima. I find it ironic that a series centered on morality ended up catering so much to the worst kind of players. I consider that $100 a lost cause at this point.

Well, Portalarium have still committed to making PvP elective, rather than open…it’ll still be an opt-in thing, perhaps with variable levels of participation that can be selected from.

But I agree that there is a lot of clamour for the ganky stuff, and I too have begun to worry that the single player element will kind of fall by the wayside as a result. That said, I haven’t written the game off as yet.
