Richard Garriott at Critical Path: Games As the Most Powerful Medium

In another short interview at Critical Path, Richard Garriott argues that games are — or soon will be — a more powerful art form for taking a message to people than either books or movies.

His reasoning is that games, rather than just informing or persuading people about issues, video games allow people people explore their beliefs about, and facets of, social issues directly, by experience. He argues that this ability to experience matters will make for a more complete understanding of a topic than what “linear media” is capable of.
