  1. I’d also like to add that the intro and outro animations are outstanding! And that map of Caledonia is a very cool backdrop as well.

As much as I’d rather pretend this game doesn’t exist, I suppose I should set up a subdomain for it.

      • Yeah, it’s not my cup of tea either. I don’t like PvP in any game really, and this is an example of the worst kind. But since it is technically an Ultima game, I figured it best to report for it. I’ve added information about the game to the wiki for the same reason.

I honestly always figured that they just lapped the Ultima name on this to hold onto the copyright. “See! We’re using it!!”

    • You know, there are things I do like about Lord of Ultima. The assets, the music, the sound effects, etc, are really top notch. I don’t even mind the Caledonia setting. They could use the same artwork and make a Tower Defense-type game, or single-player/multi-player-cooperative RTS game, and I’d be all over it. But the multi-player-versus-player style is not my type of game.

don’t play it. it is an awesome game and the pvp is good a great example of well balanced combat if you ask me… certainly nowhere near the “example of the worst kind” you suggest. no need to bash a game that doesn’t fit your small ideas. you play games with no player interaction and detest competition… do you actually think the rest of the gaming world is that agoraphobic, timid and antisocial?

      • Didn’t mean to offend anyone, after all I was the one to report this as news. What I meant was that there is no way to play LoU without PvP of some sort. Even if you don’t castle, you are nothing but a resource farm for others. Believe me, I’ve tried playing a merchant empire, and it just isn’t worth it. So the choice would be to go PvP, or expect to spend a lot in Orbs; neither suit my method of play.

You don’t know what games I play, so I will ignore your barb. However, as I said, using the same game base, Phenomic could have made a game I would enjoy. RTS can be fun, and I believe a consensual PvP game, with cooperative play, would be much better received among the core Ultima gamers.

I’m pretty sure that’s what happened.

I would like this game to die a quick death (too late for that) and go away.

It was obvious to me from the start that what you say is precisely what they were doing with Lord of Ultima. I gave it a fare shake for a few months. Aside from the fact that the game is ‘pay to win’, it has nothing, and I mean nothing, to do with Utlima in any way. What an insult this game is.

I looked into it a bit once. It looks like a fun game. Pretty involved, and obviously the ultima franchise is pretty tacked on.

Honestly, I had no interest in this before, but I created an account now to try and get the cross-promotional pet in SWTOR.
