Bethesda Thursdays

The Knife of Dunwall, the upcoming single-player DLC for Dishonored, evidently got a lot of showtime at PAX East, and made some favourable impressions with critics. The DLC’s story sounds pretty solid, as well, as does the…level of action in the game. Here’s a few more details about The Knife of Dunwall; watch for its release in the near future.

Arkane Studios’ Harvey Smith still thinks there’s life in single-player games, by the way.

Zenimax Online have answered still yet more fan questions about combat in The Elder Scrolls Online. They’re also working to make the game more open, and will also be expanding beta-testing of the game. And yes, apparently, the game does feel a lot like Skyrim.

Battlecry Studios is looking for a a Senior Gameplay Programmer this week, while Arkane Studios are looking for a Lead Tech Programmer.

OpenMW 0.22 has been released, as well.

Oh, and don’t miss this Gamasutra editorial about glitches in Bethesda’s games and worlds…any why they aren’t necessarily a bad thing.

    Am I the only one who is more excited for OpenMW than Elder Scrolls Online?

    No. 🙂 Not much a fan of Bethesda (political reasons) so I’d be more excited about a program called OpenSegfault if it existed.

      void main()
      {
      float x;
      x=1/0;
      return();
      }

      There you go. Compile for the platform of choice, and you too can be a proud OpenSegfault user.

      Best of all, we don’t save our best content for DLC!

        You’re a funny guy, WtF. 🙂 You know more C than I too, despite that big-ass book on my shelf. Now we just need to add some fancy menu that lets you choose which illegal operation to perform and we’ll be ready for github and sourceforge!

        On a serious note, does anyone know if the OpenMW team has fully reverse-engineered the data files? It’s been so long since I worked on my u5tes3 mod all I can remember were many empty fields in their reference spec. Do they have better world generators than my old craptastic Littoral from way back?

        I actually really love pure C; I find it highly elegant and fun to use.

        C++, on the other hand, I mostly despise.
