BioWare Mondays

A video detailing the free-to-play restrictions for Star Wars: The Old Republic was released last week, which has since been accompanied by a page on the game’s website explaining each restriction. (The cartel coin bonuses for subscribers also got their own explanation page.) A lot of the restrictions on free players are focused on inventory and travel, both of which are limited for free players. Free players also get a limited number of in-place revives per day, apparently, so for those of you prone to getting yourselves killed a lot, that may prove to be an obstacle.

Also, BioWare’s Damion Schubert offered up some thoughts on the MMOs of yesterday versus those of today. It makes for interesting reading.

For Mass Effect 3 players, the Groundside weapons pack DLC has been released, which I gather adds a bunch of new weapons to the single-player side of the game. Though to be perfectly fair, the existing set of weapons therein is already pretty damn solid (I find).

Also, this week BioWare kind of tacitly confirmed that there would be more Mass Effect titles made…by way of stating that future Mass Effect titles will not feature Commander Shepard.

Also, BioWare released some concept art for Dragon Age 3 over the weekend, accompanying the panel discussion that took place at a comic and games convention in Edmonton that I didn’t get a chance to attend. Party customization is evidently going to be a big feature, as well as the possibility of the player gaining control of a castle or stronghold in the game. The player-character will game world sounds as though it will be massive.

GameInformer also published their wishlist for Dragon Age 3 just prior to the weekend.
