Blu3vib3 Releases Next Chapter Of Her Scanlation of Ultima-Inspired Manga “Fall of Magincia”
Blu3vib3 dropped us an email to let us know that the next chapter of her scanlation of the Ultima-inspired manga “Fall of Magincia” is now ready for public consumption.
Hey. Just writing to say that the next rough “chapter” of the “Fall of Magincia” manga is up. In it, the pirates and genderbent ninja Sentri go adventuring, and eventually are awarded a golden boomerang and a psychic zeppelin by a Vedic goddess.
Also, I should probably announce that I’ll be updating the scanlation every ten pages or so rather than in large narrative blocks, as it is much more of a nuisance to edit than “Quest of the Avatar” was, and I’ve often find myself taking lengthy breaks from it whenever I’m confronted with a page full of polka-dotted combat sound effects that need to be painstakingly replicated.
Go check out her good work! I always love the strange Japanese Ultima stuff that is out there, and you can’t go too wrong with psychic zeppelins.
As always, much thanks to RACapowski, who did the translation part of this beast… I think her and I have a unique appreciation of just how terrible this comic is, having spent so much time with it.
The Japanese have a tendency to go overboard when they like something, and there’s usually a steady supply of fodder to satisfy their overzealousness. The artwork is okay but degrades a bit as it descends into pen and ink without color. The dialogue is somewhat offensive; silly, even. Ranma, Appleseed, Nausicaa, Akira and Hokuto no Ken are better drawn and composed than the original here.
Kudos to the translators and compositors of this manga. Well done.
The scanlation looks great, Blu3vib3. I’m sorry that the artist’s penchant for polka-dotted decapitations is proving a headache; you’re putting a lot more work and love into the project than most scanlators.
