CD Projekt Sundays

So news last week from our favourite Polish RPG developers got a bit exciting, with the revelation that they were working on two new RPGs, at least one of which is supposedly a brand new IP. They’ve even posted a few job openings for positions related to developing both titles. If you’ve got industry experience and would be willing to re-locate to Poland…take a look at what’s on offer!

Of course, they’re also still generating a lot of buzz over the Enhanced Edition of The Witcher 2; a “making of” video has been released at Eurogamer, and CD Projekt released some new wallpapers for the game as well.

They’ve also released a small patch for the Enhanced Edition that corrects some aspect ratio-related issues and a savegame import bug, among other things.

Exit question: Is The Witcher 2 sexist?

Yes, but not more so that what we’re accustomed to. Sexism is deeply interwoven into our history and has been since the beginning. Diminutive or enhancing attributes of all kinds have been ascribed to one gender or the other, sometimes one or more simultaneously.

More than likely the team was attempting to show sensitivity to issues of gender, and all other modern day “issues”, but ran against the flow of design and compromised: A normal part of development. That combined with the “story” element of a harsh, unmodern world resulted in the apparent sexism.

I call bullshit on sexism in The Witcher. I think they were trying to address it and their ideas just didn’t obtain the resources to incorporate them fully into the game.
