Bethesda Thursdays

The marketing buzz for The Elder Scrolls Online is in high gear and full swing! GameInformer has a video up of an interview with the game’s designers about quests in the game, and another faction profile, and another video that focuses on the process of crafting the game’s story. However, the game is also beginning to face no small amount of skepticism, and I can only imagine that this will get worse now that Project Copernicus has folded.

And news broke this week that The Elder Scrolls Online will feature a “100 percent solo” single-player storyline in addition to its multiplayer elements. That prompted Richard Cobbett at Rock, Paper, Shotgun to rant about the idea of “single-player MMOs” and say “enough of [them]”.

On the Skyrim side of things, it has been revealed that the next update will add mounted combat to the game, a welcome addition. PC Gamer, meanwhile, has posted lists of codes for in-game items and NPCs, which can evidently be used to spawn such things using the in-game console.

Oh, and the “dragon wall” that featured in the first Skyrim trailer? Bethesda has a real one at their office.

Zenimax, meanwhile, continues to trademark the hell out of everything to do with Skyrim. If they keep this up, fans who concoct things like these Elder Scrolls-inspired sweet rolls, or this rap video, could find themselves on the receiving end of a C&D notice.

And Arkane Studios’ Dishonored, which Bethesda is publishing, is nearing release. As such, Bethesda has put up a viral marketing site for the game which features some…interesting content. And over at Sneaky Bastards, there’s a very fine preview of the game. It looks like Arkane have another very interesting game in the works, one that may well be worth picking up at launch!
