Ultima VI Japanese Clue Book Character Images

There were a number of Japanese language Ultima clue books created for the PC and console releases in Japan, most of which are basically unknown outside of that country.  They can really only be found today by browsing Japanese auction sites.  While many of these books are nothing but collections of screenshots, some of them books have interesting artwork not seen elsewhere, such as the Ultima VI clue book published by JICC in 1992.  This publication contained character portraits for all 16 party members in the game.

I can’t help but wonder what they used for the source images, since the clue book was clearly designed for the SNES port of the game which sadly doesn’t include portraits.  Personally, I’m quite fond of the designs, although, I can’t help but wonder how Beh Lem got so big, or what exactly happened to Blaine, although, he appears to be hitchhiking somewhere.

Here for your viewing pleasure are 16 character images of the party members from Ultima VI..
