The Seven Towers Ultima 7 Upgrades Have Been Updated

Marzo Sette Torres Jr. is well-known to anyone who has followed Exult development over the last so many years, but when I hear his name I tend to think not so much of his involvement with Exult proper. Instead, I tend to think of his Ultima 7 Upgrades: the Keyring Mod for The Black Gate, and the Serpent Isle Fixes. (His Avatar Pack for both games also comes to mind.)

Now, Marzo’s website has been offline for a while, but his work on these updates to both parts of Ultima 7 have continued apace. And this morning, Dominus was kind enough to email me compiled builds of the Keyring Mod and Serpent Isle Fixes, both of which have seen recent updates. You can grab the Keyring Mod from its project entry at the Ultima 7 subdomain. Since I have yet to put together the Serpent Isle subdomain, I’ll leave the download for the Fixes here:

So…what’s new in these updates? For The Black Gate Keyring Mod, Marzo has incorporated the improved flying carpet, which (if memory serves) removes the seats and allows the carpet to be rolled up and carried in a backpack. For the Serpent Isle Fixes, it would appear that he has swapped out the ankh-bearing sail on Captain Hawk’s ship for a plain, unadorned sail. Which makes sense…it seems rather doubtful that Hawk would be sailing about in a ship marked with the symbol of Beast British!

I’ll need to push an update… At least the keyring mod requires the SVN version of Exult, running it with Exult 1.4.9rc1 will not work, the carpet will not unfold.
