Some Interesting Nuvie Devlopments

Some interesting developments from the Nuvie ChangeLog, the  Nuvie team is starting to develop what is probably the most sought after feature of all time, a full-screen mode similar to what was seen in the SNES version of Ultima VI.  It’s still very much a work in progress, and a lot of features such as conversations are not yet supported full-screen, but they’ve already added a new spellbook GUMP which I think looks great.

Ultima VI in Fullscreen

Go check out Nuvie!  I’m super excited about this development, since I’ve always felt Ultima VI‘s claustrophobic play area was the biggest drawback of the engine.

    That is just AWESOME!

This is for things like THIS that we needs engine recreations like Nuvie and not just stick to DosBox

I can’t wait till they get a complete full screen UI working!

(Now I just need a tileset with brown instead of red :P)

Oooh, nice. I would totally go for this for Ultima V’s stock graphics. Unsurprisingly.

had a go with it yesterday. Feels great and the spellbook is awesome. It’s very unstable though when you mess with the inventory.

For Windows you can just use the snapshot to experience this. For OS X or Linux you need to build it yourself. Eric updated the xcode project file as well so it is easy to build on OS X.

Don’t forget to change the nuvie.cfg to enable this cool new feature 🙂

I gotta ask, there’s no way to have full screen graphics with Nuvie, right ?

    Hi Sergorn,

There is no fullscreen mode at the moment. It’s on my todo list though.
