Exult On An iPad!

Dominus sent me this pair of images by email a couple of days ago:

[singlepic id=1272 w=500 h=669 float=center]

Ultima 7

[singlepic id=1271 w=500 h=669 float=center]

Serpent Isle

Along therewith, he sent this explanation:

In the last few days Lanica who ported Exult to PocketPC ages ago, turned his attention to iOS. The early result is what you can see on my iPad. Still in iPhone mode and only working in portrait mode.

No way to enter keys yet so a new game is not possible as you can’t enter a name.

Music works, intros maybe (on first try the SI intro crashed on voice I think).

I don’t believe this is available as a download yet (although it is in the Exult SVN), and as Dominus makes clear, it doesn’t really work all that well yet. But as a proof of concept, these two images speak volumes; the day is close(r) now when one can play Ultima 7 and Serpent Isle on one’s iPad!

Good stuff. Whats the speed like? Ultima VII under DOSPad runs too slow unfortunately.

Ever since I got my iPad, I have longed for the day when I would be able to visit the adventure of Ultima 7 and Serpent Isle on the device!

It is the one thing I look forward to on the iPad more than anything else, so I’m really thrilled to see someone doing earnest work on this! 😀

Thank you on behalf of of Ultima fans everywhere!! can’t wait to see this develop 🙂
