New Project: Flight of the Maxima

I seem to recall a few people wondering (maybe on the UDIC Facebook Group?) what had become of DOUG the Eagle Dragon, known to others as J.P. Morris.

Well, here is your answer. He has been working very hard on a new sci-fi/dark comedy/medieval Christianity-themed RPG using his self-developed RPG engine, IRE, Flight of the Maxima.

The game is still very much in the earlier stages of its development, but already boasts an impressive array of interactive features. The story sounds intriguing, and you can be certain that it will convey and reflect the odd sense of humour that we all know J.P. Morris — DOUG the Eagle Dragon — for.

And yes, I have added a project entry, as well as the current Windows download of the game, to Aiera.

Oh, wow. He’s still working on that engine? It must be a decade by now at least, probably more.

Definitely doesn’t look to be in the early stages of development. Looks like it’s working pretty damn well in many ways from the screenshots. I’m impressed.

Looks like a very familiar engine. It looks very nice and interesting on the one hand, on the other it features what I don’t like about U6 anymore. The split screen…
Same thing Spiderweb games still use and it gets old…
