Oh, how the mighty have fallen

Serves me right for not posting anything about Ultima remakes for almost a month:

Whoops…

  1. Don’t give up – true Ultima-fans will stay faithfully. I’ll keep visiting your website at least every 2nd day.

    greetings,

    Mick Mertens -Toltec Dragon-

  2. Heh…thanks, Toltec. I’m not actually concerned — I just thought it was rather funny to see the precipitous drop in daily visits.

  3. Glad to hear that from you, friend. I thought you even got more hits a day. Your site is so all-embracing in terms of Ultima-related news – and it seems, that the amount of fans is growing, but hey, up to 180 readers a day is way more than the offical site of the city-counil I work for (what proofs, that ultima is far more interesting than anything that has got to do with my hometown 😉 ).

    Greetings,

    Mick (Toltec Dragon)

  4. You flatter me too greatly, Mick. 😉 But all the same, thank you.

I too check the page atleast few times per week, and as a devoted Ultima fan, I will do so in future.

Maybe you could also add more ultima-related information like quotes, questions, history, trivia and memories(!) about Ultima francise. And other things like that besides the news about remakes (which are great!), from time to time when there isn’t that much news about remakes. Though I have to say, that you update Aiera quiet frequently. 🙂

  6. I do periodically toy with the idea of “filler,” but I usually get too busy to think up and implement anything. Mind you, that’s the problem with a venture such as Aiera — at some point, its rate of growth is such that one person is just not enough to handle it all. And either more people need to be brought on board, or else the growth needs to be deliberately arrested at a manageable point.

For the most part, I’ve opted for the latter path, but I am always open to suggestions. 🙂

Still, I’ll see if I can’t throw out a few bits of stuff here and there.

Oh, and in case anyone noticed that the site was down/suspended for a bit yesterday, my “final Cylon” article got Diggdotted. Evidently, the server didn’t appreciate the swarm of connections all at once, and neither did my ISP.

All should be well now, though.

I check the RSS feed of your site everyday 🙂
No need to visit the site if there’s been no update :p

  8. Oh, indeed. And I wouldn’t argue otherwise. 😉

To be honest, I’m rather surprised at the discussion that has emerged out of what I had intended to be a tongue-in-cheek little laugh at my own expense. Although I do appreciate the concern of the community members!

  9. Tony Buttafuoco says:

I set up a fan page for Ultima on Facebook that has a feed to Ultima: Aiera with 72 members and growing everyday. I’m not sure if that has anything to do with your numbers dropping for page hits if they can get updates directly from there?

I tend to only visit the site if there’s something more than a basic description I want to check out.

  10. Not really something that affects us, I don’t think — after all, I’m pretty sure Facebook won’t let you host the 100+ MB Lazarus download. 😉 We might lose a few people looking for Ultima news, but people looking for other sorts of content will still be by.

Traffic has picked up again in the wake of new news postings, just in case anyone is interested.
